WP7: SPRINT SMEs Framework Validation
Duration: M29 – M36
Description of the approach:The project results will be validated through representative SPIRE projects which will be carried out in representative SMES. These SW companies are strongly interested in continually striving to refine and improve their software development processes and practices, especially regarding requirements engineering. In particular, empirical case studies will be performed, in each one of the involved companies, to examine and apply the project results (analysis methods). Each of these validation studies will follow step-by-step guidelines for “lightweight” process assessment and improvement planning, as these are proposed by iFLAP (Improvement Framework utilizing Lightweight Assessment and Planning)[1]. Each case-study will be conducted in three steps:
Step 1: selection of representative projects in each case company and selection of roles influenced by the process improvement,
Step 2: assessment and elicitation of information through interviews with the roles identified in Step 1, analysis of data gathered and triangulation of results, and
Step 3: prioritization and choice of what to improve first, based on dependencies, needed resources, risk and cost.
